An OK game. I was playing quite fast and missed a lot of best moves, so accuracy was quite low.
Unusual opening, only about 700 games in the database. White wins 53%. Most common response is Nxe5.
15.Qxc5 is a mistake, probably the worst possible move, losing white a piece.
After 15..Nxc6 16.Nxh7 Rxh7 White is now equal in material again. Fortunately Black didn’t take the knight, letting me off the hook.
The right move here was to retreat the queen to d3, d2 or e3. I don’t recall exactly why I din’t do this, and chose to trade queens and potentially lose a piece. This is after 15.Qd3 c4 16.Bxc4 bxc4 17.Qxc4 Qe7 18.Nd5 Bxd5 19.exd5, which is up only 1 point in material, but 13 points in position according to stockfish.
I think the position is so strong it’s because black is very hemmed in, and white is dominating all the squares around the king. I’m threatening a pin with Rfe1 which would win the queen, so she needs to retreat, leaving the king open to checks on the e file.
